Denur Crafts
Denur Crafts is a small group of people, living in Kenya, which produces handicrafts, specifically jewelry. The group started in 1994 with just four women and has since grown into an establishment where presently there is a membership of 38 women. Members create their own designs with raw materials that are locally available. The crafts produced are a product of tradition. The jewelry is produced in Nairobi and the surrounding areas.
The vision is to create employment and income for unemployed people in the country (especially mothers). Denur Crafts main objective is to provide mothers with the means to send their children to school and allow them an acceptable standard of living. Kenya does not have a public school system; therefore, parents must pay the schools for allowing their children to attend.
